the cheese… and wine tip…
An hour’s drive away (a beautiful drive through the interior) is the family business and cheese farm Queseria Hoya de la Iglesia. They make dairy products from goat’s milk. Cheeses, yoghurt and desserts are made by hand. You will not see the 1,200 lady goats themselves during your visit, they graze and produce milk in the surrounding mountains.
You can book a guided tasting and workshop (reserve in advance), very fun to do because you make your own cheese…. No fear that it is too hot because you are in 1 of the 3 caves where the temperature is between 12 and 15 degrees all year round.
If you are on site, this is an excellent opportunity to plan a subsequent visit (also book in advance) to Bodega Dussart Pedrón. A very young, charming and small-scale Bodega, where every bottle has its own number…
